While traveling on Oahu in Hawaii recently I noticed an abundance of beautiful flowering ginger plants. It grows wild there and is also planted for use as a spice and landscaping plant. This remined me of how beneficial and easy it is to use ginger root to add great taste to foods and receive numerous health benefits as well. Fresh ginger is used in many great recipes and is especially prevelant in Indian, Chinese, Korean and other Asian recipes. It is considered to be a super spice with a long list of health benefits and is used very frequently. Simple suggestions inculde making: ginger tea with freshly grated ginger root, grated ginger root in a homemade salad dressing with extra virgin olive oil, raw apple cider vinegar and lemon juice, graded ginger adds zing to steamed vegetables and fresh ginger is great in Asian soups. Enjoy!
